Improving Governance – Strengthening Voluntary & Charity Sectors

Date / Time

06/04/2017
9:30 am - 1:00 pm

Charities are facing turbulent times as funding and donations are harder to get and recent scandals have affected public trust. Yet the social need for voluntary and community activity is greater than ever.

This workshop looks at how:

  • charities can become more resilient to survive and serve their communities better
  • processes can be reviewed in a robust and regular way
  • the voluntary sector can become more effective
  • trustees and senior managers can understand better their responsibilities, liabilities and opportunities for personal development
  • public trust in charities can be rebuilt

The workshop is being delivered by Caroline Cook from  NCVO, (National Council for Voluntary Organisations), who promote better governance and quality standards for charities, Richard Levinge of Ease Training who offer training and consultancy for charity trustees, and Barrie Wyatt the only PQASSO Mentor in Gloucestershire (PQASSO being one of a number of tools charities can use to benchmark and self-assess their operations).

Who is this workshop for?

It’s aimed at Voluntary and Community Sector organisations and individuals in the business world who are, or who are considering becoming trustees.

What are the workshop outcomes?

That attendees will either:

  • go away and do something different that will improve their charity and enable them to deliver even greater impact in Gloucestershire
  • or, take the next step towards becoming a charity trustee
