Case Study- Fenway Games

Fenway Games is a developer of real-time, mobile and social products that operate during live sporting events and offer a high turnover of wagering opportunities. Its flagship title, SnapBet, allows small-stakes bets to be placed in-play, to predict what will happen next in a football match, from a shot, goal, red or yellow card, foul, save, offside or penalty. Players can compete in league tables, achieve bragging rights, chat live over social media and win extra credits based on performance. Fenway Games offers instant, real-time gaming, enabling players to win in the next minute, not next week or at the end of the season. Products are all mobile oriented, built with the device in mind and all about in-play. The company has a clear vision that they want to respond to the conversation, with games in the pipeline that are based on Twitter chatter.
Fenway Games required finance to drive innovation and development of the product, so came to the Growth Hub for guidance. The Growth Hub also identified the need for a new website the requirement for funding to help implement this. Finance was also required to begin development of Fenway Games’ upcoming titles.
Peter Gough, CEO and Founder of Fenway Games met with Business Guide, Sarah Gregg, who identified several opportunities to secure funding for growth. Peter said: “Sarah was fantastic! She opened our eyes to what was available and was proactive in helping us to secure finance. She took the time to fully understand what we did and what we wanted to achieve and she worked with us with a real the sense of urgency. She helped us complete all the forms then and there and sent them off before we left the meeting. Her help was invaluable as, with these forms, it’s always important to get the wording and phrasing right, which she obviously did as we were successful in our bid for Innovation Voucher from Innovate UK to the value of £5,000 and a Working From Home Grant from Tewkesbury Borough Council for £250 of matched funding. We now have funds to drive the next stage of new innovative gaming products on our website.”
The help received has increased Fenway Games’ confidence and ambition to grow. Peter said: “While most people would have taken our details and emailed us the forms to complete, with The Growth Hub, the help was instant. I didn’t expect them to be so supportive - we received some great advice and left having got the ball well and truly rolling.” The Growth Hub is continuing to support Fenway Games with an upcoming bid for finance through the Regional Development Fund, as well as helping them with office space and making connections with local businesses that can help with their growth and website production.
