Background

Cyber 101 is a national programme running from January 2017 – March 2021 as part of DCMS funded activity to grow the UK’s cyber security sector and the capability of cyber security SMEs. This programme is linked to the Develop strand of UK Government’s National Cyber Security Strategy, a series of activities that will be supported by £1.9bn public investment over the next five years.

Who should apply?

We are interested in hearing from cyber security companies operating across all UK sectors with existing product or service offerings linked to the following categories:

  • SCADA and ICS

  • Information risk management

  • Perimeter security

  • Network security

  • Application security

  • Access control

  • Cyber industry support services

  • Training, awareness and education

  • Incident response and management

  • Monitoring, detection and analysis

The bootcamps are aimed at both established start-ups looking to refine their business propositions, and more mature SMEs seeking feedback on their business practices and advice on how to grow their market share and client base.

Successful applicants will be invited to an intensive one-day workshop during which attendees will receive tailored advice on a diverse range of topics linked to establishing and growing a successful cyber security business.

The training is designed to help support cyber security enterprises hone their business skills in an open innovation environment powered by peer-to-peer learning and mentorship. Thus each of the above topics will be followed by 2-to-1 mentoring sessions with the presenter, allowing SMEs to build close connections with their peers as well as the mentors.

Furthermore, selected companies that successfully complete the workshop will be shortlisted for an annual Demo Day, which will provide a direct opportunity to pitch to potential customers and investors. The Demo Day will be facilitated by Inogesis (formerly VTC), The Accelerator Network and White Horse Capital.
