Overview
Our Energy Business Group was established to promote the application of Gloucestershire’s Sustainable Energy Strategy into new projects.
Purpose
To work collaboratively to strive for the ambition for Gloucestershire to become carbon neutral by 2050.
To encourage the adoption of measures to improve the efficiency of energy usage by businesses.
Support the business consultation on the Local Growth Plan, and inputting the business voice into discussions on Local Government Reorganisation and Devolution.
Terms of Reference
Support the Growth & Enterprise Team (GET) in delivering green growth initiatives aligned with the Local Growth Plan and Gloucestershire’s climate ambitions.
Collaborate with the South West Net Zero Hub and neighbouring counties to identify and progress local low-carbon energy projects, offering feasibility support where appropriate.
Promote a strategic, joined-up approach to energy project development across Gloucestershire, ensuring alignment with regional and national net zero goals.
Support the delivery of the Gloucestershire Renewable Energy, Engineering and Green Skills project, helping to meet the skills needs of the growing low-carbon energy sector.
Work with other GET business groups to encourage and support Gloucestershire businesses in measuring and managing their greenhouse gas emissions, in line with the Gloucestershire Sustainable Energy Strategy and local authority carbon reduction targets.
