As part of Gloucestershire County Council’s net zero commitment, we’re inviting SME suppliers, including those supplying to Gloucestershire district councils, to attend a workshop in 2025 – March 2026 hosted by The Growth Hub Gloucestershire on the fundamentals of carbon calculations for your business.

These two-hour sessions will help suppliers prepare for future carbon reporting requirements and support efforts to better understand supplier emissions; sector-specific content will be included where possible. Spaces are limited and priority will be given to Gloucestershire-based SMEs.

What will I Learn?

· What is carbon auditing and the GHG Protocol

· Scope emissions, data collection and carbon footprint calculation

· Best practices and setting reduction activities

· Insights from leading suppliers from the following sectors – Construction, Transport, Health, Education, IT & Professional Services.

Who should attend?

Procurement and contract holders; human resources, operations, health & safety managers and leaders of SME suppliers, who are working or intending to engage with Gloucestershire County Council or district councils in the county

About the speakers

Toby Waller

Toby Waller has a previous career developing international businesses before advising SME’s on starting their journeys towards achieving Net Zero. He has worked as a specialist advisor and Business Navigator for The Growth Hub for over four years, providing guidance and support whilst facilitating the Growth Hub Net Zero service.

Andrew McKenzie

Andrew is a sustainable-business leader focused on helping organisations lighten their footprint as they address the opportunities and challenges of climate change. He has worked across multiple sectors supporting clients to develop and embed purpose-driven strategies within their operations and is the Growth Hub Guide on Net Zero. Andrew will be presenting on carbon auditing and how it is the starting point to Net Zero.

Mr Nathanael Challacombe

Nathanael is the Head of HSQE and Sustainability for Barnwood Limited and is responsible for driving occupational health and safety, and Net Zero within ESG agenda across its operations. Barnwood Limited have three distinctive divisions, Construction, Shopfitting & Interiors and General Works and their roots date back to 1962 with focus on what matters most to their clients. They work collaboratively and creatively to ensure outcomes are sustainable, cost effective and pragmatic. Nathanael is speaking on how Net Zero is reported and delivered into the business.
